I agree with Mark in that Magellan was an interesting character and it was really cool that he preached the word of God to the islanders and paid his life for it when he went to the Macutan Island.
Something I found interesting about Columbus was that his voyages led to Spanish colonization of the island of Hispaniola and set the stage for European colonization of the New World.
Alison Gibson: I found Magellan very interesting. I found him interesting because he trusted in God and wanted to let all the people he saw know about God. He even got killed trying to tell people about God. He also was determined that there was a strait and he was going to find it no mater what. His determination made me feel determined.
Lara T.: I think it is interesting that Magellan actually died (from a tribal king when they got caught up in a war) before they completely sailed around the world, but some of the crew made it back.
I thought that it was interesting that most of Magellan's crew did not want to have a funeral for him. When Magellan died his crew just threw him in the water and sailed away, I was shocked by this because most of his crew came from a jail. Instead of being thankful to Magellan they just threw him in the water.
I choice Magellan because i thought it was interesting how he thought the native people were friendly and not even worrying about danger and got killed by them.
Alison: I agree with Heather O Daniel because Magellan was a friendly man and did think that the natives were friendly. he tried to spread Christianity everywhere.
My choice is Columbus because his crew on the ship doubted that they would reach any land. Columbus persevered until the end. That is why I admire Columbus.
Joel Siebelink:Something interesting about Magellen is that he was the first ever person to circumnavigate the globe.
